Dan Aykroyd remembers John Belushi speaking on HLN (The blues brothers)

In the late seventies, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi not only formed a close friendship, they also formed “The Blues Brothers.” The musical sketch debuted on “Saturday Night Live” in 1978 and was followed by an album and a Hollywood film, catapulting the two into comedy superstardom.
In 1982, just two years after the “The Blues Brothers” film premiered, Belushi would be found dead after taking a deadly combination of cocaine and heroine. Now, on the 30th anniversary of Belushi's death, Aykroyd is keeping his memory alive. Showbiz Tonight’s Kareen Wynter spoke with Aykroyd at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, California. Aykroyd said he considers Belushi a brother and misses him every time he walks into a House of Blues venue. Aykroyd also tells Showbiz Tonight he can still remember the first time he met Belushi: “Second City in Toronto, first time we met when we cooked up the ‘Blues Brothers.’” Now Aykroyd is working with Belushi’s widow and family to remember Belushi’s legacy of laughter.

Rawhide Blues Brothers

Film Description: Expanding on their Saturday Night Live characters, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues, two white boys with black soul. Sporting cool shades and look-alike suits, Jake and Elwood are dispatched on a "mission from God" by their former teacher, Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman). Said mission is to raise $5000 to save an orphanage. In the course of their zany adventures, the Blues Brothers run afoul of neo-Nazi Henry Gibson, perform the theme from Rawhide before the most unruly bar crowd in written history, and lay waste to hundreds of cars on the streets and freeways of Chicago.

In case you aren't swept up in the infectuous nuttiness of the brothers Blue, you might have fun spotting film's legion of guest stars, including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman), Frank Oz, and Steven Spielberg.
